Crescendo
A downloadable game for Windows
A rhythm-based platforming game about infiltrating a building and collecting mysterious orbs. Everything you do makes noise, but you can avoid drawing attention to yourself by timing your movements with the background music. This music starts off quiet, but by switching levers to turn on different instruments, you will open up opportunities to move around in new ways.
The goal of each level is to get to the orb and carry it back to the elevator. The catch? Holding an orb makes it impossible to hear, so make sure you've internalized the music before picking one up!
Originally made in 48 hours for the Ludum Dare 41 Compo.
Version 1.5 is the demo of the most recent version of Crescendo. Eventually I want to release a full version on Steam, but development is currently paused!

Any idea when it'll come to Steam?
Unfortunately, the answer to this question is "eventually" :(
This game is sooooooooooooooooooo good. I love watching it! I love playing it!
Thank you so much! The full version is just on the horizon, keep an eye out for it! Edit: oof gamedev is hard
I played this at magfest and kept playing it afterwards, this really is a cool game. I really like how you can go at your own pace unlike most rhythm games.
One thing is my controller can't control the menus. Xbox S controller hooked up through USB.
Thanks so much! There's still a bunch I want to do before I release the full game, but I'm hoping I can complete everything soon. Controller support is still a work in progress, but I'll make sure everything is ironed out before the final release!
I'll be showing some new stuff at Magfest 2020, hope to see you again!
Nate,
At least put a "Pay What You Want" on this...
Enjoyed meeting you at AwesomeCon

Quite hard to get into, but once you understand how much sound every move makes and you start paying attention to the bar and you get into the rhythm of the game it's a very cool experience! Kinda sad it only has 5 levels. Great job :)
I played to level 3, the gameplay ended up feeling kinda of annoying rather quickly, and not really like a stealth game, but I really like the concept and its a cool idea nice job
Thank you for the feedback! I agree that the gameplay is pretty annoying at the moment, but I have plans to fix that. You're totally right though; this is just a rhythm-platformer game, with a stealth theme. I have ideas on how to turn it into a stealth game, it's just going to take some work to get it implemented.
While I think that the difficulty of this jam entry is a biiit too high, I have to admit that the core concept is absolutely brilliant! A completely on audio based stealth platformer? An innovative idea! :) Congratulations for thinking of that genre-mashup, happily I recommended your game along with two other rhythm-based games in one of our compilation articles about the Ludum Dare 41. There's also a corresponding video, where each of the games is featured with a minute of gameplay; I hope that we can drive some more players to your game with that. <3 Good luck with the ratings! :)
Best wishes,
Sebastian
Thank you so much for covering my game! I really appreciate the encouragement!
You're very welcome, Nate! I think you have some game design ideas in there and I can't wait to see more of you in the future! :)
